Corporate Waste Solutions (CWS) is seeking a Food Waste Collection Driver to join our team at JBLM. The food waste collection driver will maintain routes, collect and transport food waste to the compost facility, and clean and maintain collection containers. This position is very physically demanding, requiring you to move materials up to 150 pounds and to work in all weather conditions. Veterans highly encouraged to apply.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Follow route as established to collect food waste
- Drive in a safe and efficient manner to complete routes accurately and on time to transport food waste from locations around base to compost facility
- Clean and maintain collection containers
- Physically load and unload food waste
- Maintain collection logs
- Keep a positive attitude in working with coworkers, others on base, and general public
- Keep professional appearance and demeanor
- Maintain respect for company vehicles and equipment
- Stay quality-oriented, reliable, and dependable
- Prioritize a high-volume workload efficiently and able to meet deadlines
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate/OSHA standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.
- Must maintain clean driving record
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to pass background check
- Pass initial and submit to random drug testing
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Prior military experience encouraged to apply
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members, management, employees and external customers in an efficient and professional manner
- Ability to interpret data (logs, reports, orders, maps, etc.)
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Hold a current drivers license
- Clean driving record
- The ability to exert muscle force to push/pull objects up to 150 lbs., to lift and bend regularly and/or carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Driving a video/GPS monitored vehicle
- Ability to adhere to changing COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a mask and social distancing with coworkers and the general public
- Flexibility to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a high stress, fast paced, team environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in any of the following: delivery/route driver, physical laborer, compost industry, solid waste industry, or similar environment
- Driver Experience
- Bilingual English / Spanish a plus
- Mechanical background a plus
